Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation

Congressionally mandated in 1991, the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Program is named after Louis Stokes, a congressman from Cleveland, Ohio. The goal of the LSAMP program is to significantly increase the numbers of students matriculating into and successfully completing degree programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines to diversify the STEM workforce. Particular emphasis is placed on transforming undergraduate STEM education through innovative, evidence-based recruitment and retention strategies, and relevant educational experiences in support of racial and ethnic groups historically underrepresented in STEM disciplines. Minority Engineering Program

The purpose of the Minority Engineering Program (MEP) is to expose, educate, engage, and enhance the experiences of our historically underrepresented minority engineering students. Our scope is to increase the graduation numbers through our outreach efforts, recruitment, retention services, and strategic programming. MEP strives to create an environment of both academic and inclusive excellence, diversity, and unity among our students as they develop into strong Buckeye engineers.  Ohio State continues to be a national leader in producing a diverse population of engineers and the Minority Engineering Program is a key component of that effort. Learn more here.

Women in Engineering

The Women in Engineering (WiE) program is a comprehensive, multi-faceted program that assists the College of Engineering with the recruitment, retention, motivation, and graduation of all women engineering students.

One of the Nation's top producers of women engineers the WiE program provides opportunities to support and empower women engineering students as well as promote activities to enhance the overall experience of women and facilitate their entry into careers in academia, research, and industry. Learn more here.

While DOI events are open to all students , they are designed to increase the number of women and underrepresented minorities pursing degrees and careers in engineering.
