Rojas Named Associate Dean

Roberto RojasRoberto G. Rojas has accepted the position of associate dean for graduate and professional education at the College of Engineering.

Rojas has a long and significant history at Ohio State, where he has excelled as a student, faculty member and alumnus. He received his master’s and his doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from Ohio State in 1981 and 1985, respectively. He has served in numerous capacities since that time, being both a research scientist and a tenure track faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Rojas was promoted to professor in 2002 and had been serving as the graduate studies chair for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

A Fellow of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), Rojas focuses his research efforts in antenna systems (active and passive), microwave and millimeter wave devices, and applications of metamaterials.

In his new position, Rojas will have primary responsibility for overseeing and coordinating the college’s graduate programs, including the introduction of the master’s degree of global engineering leadership as well as graduate student specializations in numerous areas, including energy, environment and entrepreneurship. He retains his faculty positions with Ohio State's ElectroScience Laboratory and with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Rojas assumed the associate dean position from Hazel Morrow-Jones, who was named the university’s associate provost for Women’s Policy Initiatives and director of The Women’s Place.
