Anniversary event to showcase 75 years of ElectroScience innovation

Posted:

On October 6, The Ohio State University ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL) will host alumni, friends and Ohio State officials to celebrate 75 years of electroscience innovation and to highlight the influential research and education they perform daily.

From its beginnings in 1942 as the Antenna Lab—focused on developing technology to install and measure airplane antennas—the ElectroScience Laboratory has evolved into an internationally recognized leader in electromagnetics, influencing radio, antennas, radar, wireless communications, terahertz and optics research.

ESL researchers pioneered indoor compact range measurement technology for antennas and helped advance the development of GPS, stealth aircraft technology, cell phone antennas, automobile radar systems and more. Faculty and students continue to research emerging technologies daily in areas like wireless energy harvesting; e-textiles, or fabric with embedded electronics; cognitive radar that can adapt to ever-changing environments; and automotive radar that enables collision avoidance, parking assist and other autonomous vehicle features.

Anniversary event activities will include laboratory tours, student research poster presentations, student and faculty interaction, and food.
