College of Engineering announces policy on grading for spring semester

Posted:

Per a resolution passed by University Senate on March 26, 2020, all undergraduate and graduate students have until April 17, 2020, to select Pass/No Pass (PA/NP) instead of a traditional letter grade for General Education and elective courses.

Consistent with the university resolution, the PA/NP option is extended to all major and minor courses (i.e., all degree requirements) for undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Engineering and Knowlton School of Architecture. Students will have until April 17 to make this choice known to their academic advisor.

Admission to major decisions will still be made based on letter grades earned in accordance with policies already in place. Students may wish to weigh that when considering PA/NP.

To further mediate the impact of Covid-19 on teaching and learning, the College of Engineering emphasizes that the “I” (incomplete) may be an appropriate option to allow extra time for completing work; the completion deadline for Spring Semester 2020 has been extended from the 6th Friday of Summer Term to the 10th Friday.

If you’re interested in PA/NP, please contact your academic advisor to discuss your plans: https://advising.engineering.osu.edu/current-osu-students/passnonpass-c….
